Shyamali Singhal, MD

Shyamali Mallick Singhal, MD, PhD, is a general surgeon and surgical oncologist. She cares for patients across their full cancer journey, from diagnosis through treatment and survivorship.

Dr. Singhal is passionate about supporting the whole person, not just treating disease. "I always remind patients that their diagnosis and surgery are only one small part of their life," she says. "After treatment, the goal is to help them return to their regularly scheduled life - with family, friends and all the things they love."

In addition to her surgical practice, Dr. Singhal is the founding director of the cancer program at El Camino Health. For more than 20 years, she has worked to advance cancer care through innovation and leadership. She collaborates with health-focused startups that aim to support the physical and emotional needs of cancer patients.

Dr. Singhal is an active voice in cancer care education and advocacy. She has appeared on several podcasts and has given talks on topics such as traveling as a cancer patient. Earlier in her career, she hosted a radio show.

Outside of work, Dr. Singhal enjoys cooking and spending time with her husband and two girls. She has recently taken up watercolor painting.
